...not sure if this is the right thread.....

Doing a major garden shed clear-out...and almost a full bag (4st) of lime to get rid of. Any suggestions for the best/safest way of getting rid of it ??. Not sure if the council collect-points in Dublin would take it.....

    Many thanks,
    K

Not exactly a controlled substance. Just give it to someone that grows veg, they'll know what to do with it. 4st would lime a very small area of a vegtable garden. Its perfectly safe to use on the garden but only a gardener would know which plants would love it and which plants loath it.

Lime can be used very effectively to break down lumpy soil over the winter months ahead of spring planting etc. Plenty of limey soils around Dublin but do not put near ericaeous/acid loving plants (rhododendrons, many heathers, camelias, forest flames, abelias, leucothes etc etc they'll die.

Simply sprinkle lightly along surface and let nature do the rest.

Otherwise put in extra bag and dispose of with normal refuse.
