Which XBOX should I buy

What I'd like

A new 360...as I dont think ill find a second hand with the following...

HDMI
The newer cooler quieter chipset (although it seems silly to still have a jet engined powered dvd drive still in there)

Hard drive is not really that important (can't i use a USB flash drive to perform all the same function) I have a 4 gig, and a couple of 250 gig USB drives doing nothing.???

Wireless controllers aren't really that important. Wireless net access not important. Mass effect is the only game I want for now.

I want to use my pc screen so VGA or I'll use a HDMI to DVI converter...

Where should I get this and how much should it cost?

If you want HDMI, you'll need one of the newer Pro models or an Elite, both of which come with a hard drive and wireless controller anyway. If buying second hand, look at the actual machine for a HDMI port before buying.

The arcade models also have hdmi BTW.310euro, Good if your on a tight budget but bad value compared to the Premium at 360euro.Elite only viable in this country if your broadband is extremely fast or if you need that special surround sound system dongle that is only made by microsoft

Why is the elite only viable if you have extremely fast broadband?

It's got HDMI as standard, is arguably more reliable and also comes with a HDMI cable in the box which no other SKU does.

It also has a 120GB hard-drive which admittedly may be a luxury to some, but to others a 20GB standard, (in reality 13GB as 6 -7 is used for backwards compatibility etc,) fills up fairly fast.

And with the advent of the movie downloads, and a HD clocking in at 7GB, that 13 GB harddrive isn't as big as some require.

You can only use an external USB hard drive to store movies/photos/music
that you have downloaded or sourced elsewhere. You can not download
game add-ons/patches, demos or movies via the 360 onto an external hard
drive.

You must use the 360 hard-drive for any downloads via the marketplace
and for your game saves. With the ability to download high-def movies
via the market place I'd go for as large a drive as possible. Many owners
of the 20 gig drive are looking to move to the newer larger Microsoft
hard-drive to store all their demos.

(I'm aware that 360 movie downloads are only stored on your 360 hard
drive on a temporary basis and deleted after X number of days but 20 gig
is not a lot of space).
