    Hi all,

Hope you guys can help me out. Ive been asked by a small organisation to do the bookkeeping for them, but don't really have much previous experience.

I did Business for the Junior Cert a good few years ago but never carried it into Leaving Cert, let alone college. Ive heard however, it can be very manageable to pick up.

Im the type of person whos good at self-teaching, but exactly how difficult is it to start bookkeeping, and does anyone have any recommendations for resources?

    Thanks.

Depends what is meant by 'bookkeeping'...

Are you just expected to maintain records of cheques, invoices etc? IF so, this is pretty starightforward, and JC Business would cover most of this!

However, I would guess you might be expected to prepare VAT and PAYE returns, do some Payroll work etc.

If this is the case, get onto www.revenue.ie and brush up on how to fill out VAT 3's, P30's etc!
