Port forwarding hasn't worked...

....I know you've heard it a million times before but I'd appreciate a bit of advice on this one...... Azureus downloads are very poor - 10 - 20 Kb - red light on - firewalled...

WIndows XP - Service packs applied
Eircom broadband - 1 Mb
The original Netopia DSL modem (not a router) made NO modifications to it's config
Belkin Router F5D9230-4

Windows firewall switched off permanently
No other software firewalls

Followed the Port Forwarding instructions here..

I've Set up the static IP address thingy
Still get the red light, fails NAT test, fails port open test....
Also tried switching OFF the firewall in the router completely - made no impact

BUT...I can download the torrents from the Azureus (is it VUZE ?) at 118Kb/s !!

Any advice welcomed !!

Does it work if you bypass router altogether - plug modem directly into PC? I have the netopia 2247 modem/router and had to turn it's firewall to LOW to get Azureus to work. Does your Netopia have anything similar?

Thanks Mick....I haven't tried removing the Belkin router from the setup ie just have the dsl modem connected to the PC - will try that tonight...

My Netopia modem is the original one Eircom offered - there is no router in it and as
far as I can see it has no firewall capabilities - I think it's this one - Netopia Cayman 3341 Modem...
