Heard similar advice before, that you should distort the sound for the first minute or so. It must actually work then, cheers!

I really like this! You seem to have a very distinct sound. Yet there's nothing predictable about this mix. Very nice indeed.

I've messed around with different pieces of equipment over the years, but never really committed myself to it. But I've got myself a nice set up now and I wanna start putting the hours in.

My only problem is that I don't know what kind of music I want to play. My interests are dub, funk, disco, Detroit house, deep techno, US deep house and some of the current bass stuff. A bit of everything really. I'm sure an accomplished DJ would pull all those influences together, but as a relative newcomer I feel I need to reign it in a bit. Give myself a bit of direction. Did you have a similar problem, or did you know from the outset what kind of sound you were looking for?

Why restrict yourself to one particular sound mate. Just play what u think is good.

Use your influences to shape your mixes, there are no rules to say that your mix can't start off funky as fcuk and evolve to banging techno. That's the beauty of being a DJ, bringing the audience on a journey with your programming. Also a great way to teach yourself about how different styles work/don't work with other.

Music is evolving all of the time so don't stress about getting your sound. Mix it up mate, that's what it's all about.

You can't please everybody all of the time so just play what u wanna play and not what u think people want u to play.

Keep putting in the hours and most of all ENJOY what u are doing mate.

Yeah cheers man. It's just a bit frustrating when I'm listening to some techno and that's all I wanna play. But then ten minutes later I'm listening to old disco tracks and I can't think about anything else. If I was good enough I could just throw it all together, but as you say, that's where the practice comes in!

Fast n Furious this ****!! Although not my cup o' tea as I man be 100 on my next birthday I found myself enjoying this and was disappointed when I realised it was only 26mins long I clocked this at 150bpms easy and despite my initial reaction to just turn it off I persevered and was glad I did Cheers!
