A collection of some of my favourite classical, jazz and ambient bits which I'm feeling at the moment. Really starting to show my age as I discovered a lot of this music through listening to RTE Lyric FM, especially the John Kelly Ensemble every weekday afternoon from 2-4pm. Some really beautiful music for your ears, with a nod to my own journey as a guitar student, lots of guitar bits included from the Dublin Guitar Quartet, LA Guitar Quartet, Zsófia Boros, Stockholm Guitar Quartet, Django Reinhart, John Fahey and Emily Remler. A generous tap of well drummed and most likely familiar to most classic Jazz from The Blues Project, The Dave Brubeck Quartet, Thelonius Monk and & Art Blakey, Duke Ellington - Max Roche & Charles Mingus and Lalo Schifrin. All stuck together with the more difficult to classify Aphex Twin, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Max Richter, Dominick Martin, Portica Quartet, David Lang, Gavin Bryars, Harmonia & Eno '76, Philip Glass and Nils Frahm among others. Lovely!

gonna flog a mix I put up 6 years ago - had a pair of DZ1200s that were a bit old skool to use, had a few vinyl mixes must try and dig them out - loads of mistakes - kinda love the mistakes - love the old essential mixes from the 90's when you could tell how tight a mix actually was
- guess my age is showing.

Pre-internet there wasn't really much scope for getting your ears round new or old music which wasn't in the popular spectrum - in the 80s and 90s ye young bastids! I got into so much music from movies, so I'm going to document it in case I get dementia. Solid tracks from films like Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Casino, Goodfellas, Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, True Romance, Natural Born Killers, Death Proof, Planet Terror, Yellow Submarine, Jackie Brown, Reservoir Dogs, Forest Gump and so on. Tracks from the Stones, Beatles, Can, Roy Ayres, The Meters, Devo, Jefferson Airplane, Joe Tex, Dick Dale, Jack Nitzsche, Smith, Cowboy Junkies, The Tornadoes, The Trashmen, Harry Nilsson, The Doors, Nouvelle Vague, Duane Eddy, Luis Bacalov, Shivaree, An April March, DIre Straits, Merle Haggard. Hope you enjoy it!

Darkside Hardcore Jungle Classics all killer no filler in the mix from '91-'94. Massive amount of tracks on this one from Goldie aka Rufige Kru - he really has made some groundbreaking music which is not aging too badly to these ears a quarter of a century later. Genius stuff. Other artists featured are Doc Scott aka Nasty Habits , DJ Red Alert & Mike Slammer, Underground Movement, Shimon, Manix, DJ Ron, Danny Breaks, Grooverider, A-Zone, Johnny L, 4 Hero, Tek 9, Randall, Multicore, Sonz Of A Loop Da Loop Era, Q Project and Underground Software. This is the music that really got me hooked on Jungle/Drum & Bass. If you want to source any of this music looking no further than the Metalheadz, Reinforced, Surburban Base, Slammin Vinyl and Moving Shadow record labels to begin with and you'll be on the right track. They all have online stores. COME TO THE DARKSIDE!!!!!
