Dishwasher not heating water

Hi all, We have a Zanussi Aqua pulse dishwasher (6 years old) but lately I noticed that it is not A) heating the water and b) not drying the delph.Anybody any ideas what may be the problem? Thanks

heating element could be gone
most likely the problem and not a major job to replace it
