Insulating Boards Outside

    Hi,
Have a bedroom which is held up by a pillar (nothing underneath) which gets colder than all the other rooms in the house. Got walls insulated last year along with other external walls. All rooms are now much warmer, but this one still colder than the rest.
I presume the cold is coming up from the floor as there is nothing underneath.
Short term, was going to put up some polystyrene boards on the "ceiling" underneath the bedroom. Its very sheltered, and "ceiling" raised about 12-18 inches so theres a nice hanging border providing shelter.
Sound like a decent short term solution?
Best way to put em up? Masonry nails? Glue?
    Best way to cut polystyrene?
    Any other advice greatly appreciated?

the best thing to use would be kingspan, you can buy it in alot of different sizes....the thicker the better.
you could batten the ceiling with timber and fix the kingspan between the battens. then fix expanded metal over the whole lot and plaster with sand and cement. you could 'mushroom' the kingspan to the concrete, would be a better option and then continue with metal and plaster.

    hope that helps

    Thanks plasto.
Went ahead and bought 3" aeroboard and fixed this to ceiling. Seems to be doing the trick so far. Need a cold morning to really tell though.
