We got some bad news about our old spaniel cross that we adopted before Christmas she has been diagnosed with Glaucoma and is scheduled for an op in the morning, the vet has more or less said that she will be left totally blind in the right eye and not giving too much hope for the left.
She is also older than we first thought, so that alone is worrying going through the op, we love her and want the best for her, does anyone here have any experience with a blind or partially sighted dog. PTS was discussed but NOT AN OPTION as long as she has no pain we are happy to accommodate what ever she needs, kicking myself that this was not picked up earlier either, vet was fairly optimistic she will cope.

Dependant on age I think but there are numerous stories of blind dogs living full and healthy lives. Many of these blind dogs take up a partnership with a sighted dog which somehow knows what is needed and acts as a seeing eye dog.
Considered getting another dog to fulfill this function for her?
