Cost wise relocation down stream is not a runner, traffic wise, a platform in sallypark might be better.

Actually heard a CIE fella on the radio say that sallypark would be the move more likely if it was to happen.that was months ago in wlr.

Talk is all it could be, it would not be a practical or financially viable answer. Sallypark makes a good deal more sense - provided it does not flood.

Your guess as good as mine, could be used to shield something from flying debris....bits of brick etc.

Please dont mention the R word!!!!

I have been down there for hours during the day and I have never seen one, I know they are closer to the river but I really havent seen one near the buildings.

There was always straw bales down there, like there were replaced every year. I have no idea why.

They must be getting close to the end now? Its just one building to come down and the clean up!

I heard there's some kind of holdup on the demolition of the building nearest the river. The story has it that contractor has missed the deadline to finish the job.

Im sure i seen recently that the finish date (under current contractors) was the end of October, but apparently it should be done by the end of September.

I guess there's no movement on site this week as the company is probably on Holidays.

i'm sure the lack of work is probably down to builders holidays if not they are probably coming up with a demolition plan for the building nearest the river

Seems to be a complete lack of any reasonable moment on site the past 3 weeks ! Anyone with any info ?

As of today, some of the diggers are loaded on flat beds ready to be shipped out.

Does Not fit well with a end of september finish - unless that finish means leaving two buildings and not the one as originally planned.

Article in this week's Muster Express basically saying that

"The Structural Integrity of the wharf on which the front building sits could not accommodate large machinery" hence the finish date is now being pushed back from September to October.

The digger that was on the truck is back, it must have just taken a break.

I reckon it won't be demolished until next year. Any bets?

Here are some pictures from Sunday 23rd , they seem to be building a work platform under the front silos from the shore for the demolition excavator to work off. Hopefully it won't be long before the site is cleared.

The Large Demolition Excavator looks like it is taking up position to start demolition on the remaining building today !

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,160 ✭✭✭jelutong

Starting to demolish it now. Bridge side first. Get there and take a few pictures before it's gone for all time.

Are both those buildings going or just the one they are knocking at the moment?
