Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any of those Irish names beloved of gaelgoir nazi types where both the male and the female names sound like you're hocking up a lung.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Probably referring to people who Galeigise a name that is either already Irish or is clearly of English/Nordic descent. You know, twats who re do their clearly planter name and Irish-ize it "Ui Jonstain" "for Johnson, that type of thing.

When I was in school, some of the kids had awful names => Laverne, Marnie, Priscilla, Perpetua, Elton, Elvis, Bosco, Sue-Ellen, Mia, Wayne and er....Derek. And these were kids born in the 70s - we were obviously Chavs before Chavs were invented. :)

Pretty much. Though some actual Irish names sound horrible to my ear. Blathnaid for one. "Take me now Blathnaid" doesn't really gel.

Hmm... some names I don't like because of how they sound, some I don't like because I've meet a few pepole with the names and I have a very hard time getting on with them.

    Lisa
    Rebecca
    Linda
    Brian

Betty just doesn't sound nice to me... don't really like Francis for a boy or girl, and I'm not really into names that are words, like mentioned before with Princess, Sunshine, etc. I once knew a girl named Patience... little did her mom know she'd grow up to have none!

    Drew Peacock

    October 02 2004 at 02:47PM

A Bedford couple named their baby son Drew Peacock before realising that it sounded quite rude.
The baby’s father, Russell, said he only twigged it when he put it in an Internet search engine looking for famous namesakes, and was asked: “Do you mean Droopy C**k?”
“It was as if I’d been smacked with a right hook. I started repeating ‘Drew Peacock’ over and over again. Then I thought - what have we done?
“I went numb and couldn’t speak for two minutes. Then I couldn’t stop laughing.”
Mother Shetal Patel had also failed to spot their error despite being a registrar’s assistant, says The Sun.
She said: “I thought Russell had seen a ghost when he came away from the computer. We decided on the name a month before he was born - we both loved it straight away.”
The couple are now concerned that Drew’s name will cause him problems in later life.
Russell said: “People at work are already saying, ‘Hey, look there’s Droopy’s dad’. But we don’t want to change his name. It’s on his birth certificate and other documents.” -
