I much prefer movie scores as opposed to a collection of songs lumped together to form a soundtrack. Hans Zimmer's are wonderful. The music from Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean and King Arthur are my favourites. Amazingly epic if you listen to them through the right speakers.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is great, all the songs interspersed by classic dialogue from the film, it helps if your a fan of the movie but you don't have to be, amazing collection of really good diverse songs Jumpin' Jack Flash, I Can't Turn You Loose, One Toke Over the Line ect.

I like scores as well. Love Schindlers List, Shawshank Redpemtion etc.

Some of my favourite soundtracks are The Last Kiss, Garden State and Curious George! I just love Zach Braff's taste in music! Actually, all the music that appears in Scrubs is good too.

Ennio Morricone can do no wrong, all his soundtracks (that I've heard) are sublime.

The sountrack to Singles is great if you like early American grunge like I do (Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, that sort of thing).
Also score wise, Ennio Morricone ftw.

    the Thumbsucker Soundtrack is great.

Almost Famous has the BEST soundtrack of any movie I have ever seen.

I love the Dazed and Confused soundtrack.

Any Brat Pack movie with the classic mid 80's music is good in my book.

Theres simply too many to list, but Arnolds "Stargate" and Elfmans "Batman" would be a good place to start!

Bit of a random one this but the soundtrack to Good Will Hunting is great imo:

Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" during the slo-mo fight scene is beautifully done.

Elliot Smith's "Between the Bars" and "Miss Misery" are great.
IIRC "Miss Misery" is used in the last shot of Will on the road to California.

The ironic use of "Afternoon Delight" at the end credits is brilliant as well.

The closing music score to JFK BY John Williams is a very moving and haunting piece of music .

    From Amazon (reviews )
Williams' primary theme for JFK in "The Prologue" is an extremely moving dramatic piece played wonderfully on Trumpet by Tim Morrison and it captures the heraldic nostalgia of JFK's camelot and it's tragedy.

Listening to John Williams' Greatest Hits at the mo (literally). For soundtrack or movie themes he's hard to beat. I like stuff by Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek-The Motion Picture), too.

Anybody a fan of Woody Allen's soundtracks (Sleeper springs to mind)? Not original stuff, obviously, but it's a great soundtrack.

Some of the older movies had great soundtracks. Laurence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago and The Big Country spring to mind.
