Thinking about a marketing campaign

    Hi there,

I am seriously thinking about running a marketing campaign by mail in the next weeks.
The idea is to introduce my IT business to some companies, preferably those with over 250 employees. I do not focus on any particular type of customer or market.

I have seen people like that http://www.businesspro.ie than can provide a dump from the tax office I suppose so I could I suppose simply send a couple of hundreds mails (Like 500 to start) to the CFO to start with.

The idea is also to develop a customer base.

What do you think about this company "BusinessPro", are they good to deal with, or do you know any other good one?

    Thanks

no idea about that company ...

some things I would have to say is ... prepare to have a budget for a few months of a campaign ... while a once of mail shot may get you some customers you will want to go with it for a while (in my opinion and semi saturate the market a bit)

I'd also say to get a specific market ... ( you've just hired someone so I'm assuming you're a fairly small outfit of probably 2 people now which includes yourself)

Specific market = examples of previous owrk
Specific market = building your client base

No market = what are your previous customers ... who are they ... why should we choose you ... whats your track record ?

(all questions you should think about before sending a mail shot)

Targeting companies with 250 people or so means they'll want references for who you've worked for before and the size of the projects ...

just a few thoughts on it all

Well I have worked in several industries, gov, banks, ISV etc.. reason why I said no market. I do not focus no any particular industry but I know what specific industries needs, for example in term of compliance.

Regarding the "points" of the paper I am going to send them, I think I know exactly what the bullet points to use.

Today I was in a sales meeting of one of my customers, they did something similar with 1000 companies. They got 22% return, which is outstanding.
I am not expecting that much, but if I could get a few new ones that would be great.

Also I am thinking of doing the thing myself, printing etc.
A marketing company will probably take me a lot of cash for that.
Well I do not know, maybe it is gonna cost me more by doing it myself, any experience on this guys?

    Hu?

You could check out www.cashflowworks.com as they have extensive databases on all Iriah Companies. They specialise in debt collection and credit control and have a good insight on credit risks. After all there's no point having customers that don't pay.

I do a lot of lead sourcing for specific job titles for my own needs. It sounds stupid, but I get about 40 names and numbers an hour by searching linkedin and googleing contact numbers. There are 471 Irish CFOs showing on my search.
