    You have to wait longer than 40 minutes to get through no matter what
    time you ring. It is pretty shocking alright.
    I just plug the mobile into the charger and put it on loudspeaker and then
    feic around on the internet etc....

    If you want to cancel, you have to call NTL during business hours so you can talk to their retention team. This is incidentally the only retention team I've ever dealt with where I had to wait to talk to someone. That tells you something about NTL's customer churn.
