Oddness. Anyone had this and found out the cause?

    Vista, diginet metro, wireless router.

Rather than restarting, if you open the command prompt (Start > Run > cmd) and enter

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

Does this bring the connection back?

    +1.

DHCP issues on vista are quite problematic - especially with our local broadband supplier, PermaNet.
This can be fixed by changing values in the registry.
When you loose connection is more than likely is because you have reached the renewal period of the IP address and this fails.
