Colour of Crisp Packets

Can someone tell me why we associate Cheese and Onion with Green and Salt and Vinegar with Blue?.. I was just looking at a Walkers display and noticed how they seem to have it the wrong way round. But why, esp when you consider that King and Tayto are RED for Chessr and Onion...

Speaking of Blue, Mr Tayto is feeling lonely <Here>

I think the OP is a bit confused...walkers are not the standard for crisp packets...tayto are :)

Walkers are minging. Salt n Vinegar might be blue because salt comes from the blue sea, perhaps?

It seems to be (excluding Walkers because their crisps are horrid anyway) that Cheese & Onion are red, unless you have a ready salted flavour, then C&O are green and RS are red.

Does anyone actually like Salt & Vinegar crisps? My family can't stand 'em, that's why we never buy those multi-packs as they stick those horrible feckin' crisps in with the other proper flavours.

    cheese and onion.....red
    salt and vinegar.......blue

it was easy until those walkers people came along!

  • Registered Users Posts: 396 ✭✭Shadowless

It's very simple. The "main" flavour is red. The next one is blue. And then whatever colours you like after that. So for tayto and king cheese 'n onion is red and salt and vinegar is blue while for walker it's ready salted red and cheese 'n onion blue.

speaking of ready salted, what a useless flavour of crisp. It's like the ideas people said: "Hmmm, what flavour is cheap to produce? How about unflavoured! Genius!!!"

I love salt & vinegar. Actually, I pretty much like all the old style flavours, except ready salted. That's not a flavour, it's a by-product! I can't stand all these new flavours. Who the fcuk eats carribbean chutney flavour? Sick freaks!

That might be pushing it a bit. Do you really think that much thought goes into picking a colour? :p

They kind of disprove my rule.

Their Cheese & Onion is green (and also delicious), but I don't think they have a ready salted.

Not even sure if they have a red packet!

Back when crisps came out they didn't really have a flavour - you used to get a little salt packet (like you would in a fastfood place) with it, and you'd put in as much or as little as you liked. Smiths Salt n Shake or something like that.

    Tayto & King - red = C&O, blue = S&V
    KP (frisps) - green = C&O, blue = S&V, red = ready salted
    Walkers - blue = C&O, green = S&V, red = ready salted
    Perri - red = C&O, blue = S&V

S&V ftw as far as I'm concerned.

I would normally tear into Walkers for mixing up their colours... But they released Sensations Thai Sweet Chili, therefore they are exempt... :D

Chipsticks would fit in to the specialist crisp catergory as they're not crisp shape and are a hybrid potato/corn based snack, or are they all corn now? Basicly they can do what they damn well like because they're awesome.

S&V FTW! Perry pan fried (blue aswell!) used to be the best, so much flavour it would burn your taste buds off, grab a club orange if your feeing particulary machoistic while you eat a packet. mmmmmm. Now they're mainly salt :(

I noticed this muddying of the waters from Walkers and shook my head in disdain.

    A shower of no-good bástards.
