Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Almost exactly one year ago, the admins in their wisdom gave the green light for this forum.

The response has been very good, a lot better than I ever thought it would be.

But things can always be made better, can't they?

    Let's hear your suggestions !

Do we need a "banter thread" for camper specific humour/nonsense / gossip? A linklist where we collect any and all camper-specific links? A review section?

    Any other ideas?

    Let's hear it !

At the same time, I'd like to encourage all guests (and there are many that browse this forum) to get registered and participate with their questions and ideas. We don't bite ...honestly ...

    Hi Peasant,

Maybe it would a good idea to set up a buy and sell section. At this moment we have to look in boards.ie and this has not got a motorhome section. Takes a long time to scroll through all the car adverts to get to a motorhome

    Just an idea :D

    Kind regards

    Adria1

    Sorry, I meant adverts.ie

Yes, a specific camper/camping section in adverts.ie would be nice.

I'll petition the powers that be ...see what happens

(a linkage in the for sale thread to "buy and sell" isn't going to happen though, that much I can tell you)

    Hi peasent
have not been on for a while ihave to say i found this site very helpful when i bought my camper .I think a review site would be good where people could recommend place to stay and quality of campsites ,good pubs, good wild camping spots .(I realise that wild camping spots probably could not be advertised in case the boy racers are attracted to them.)I wonder could there be "A something for the weekend" where posters could recommend an event that know is on or something to do:o:o:o

    madharry

I have thought about something along those lines myself.
    The only problem is space.
By nature of this site, threads that haven't been posted in for a while fall further and further back ...and there is only so much room for stickies.

Maybe we could snazz up the "your favourite campsite" sticky a bit ...it hasn't that many entries and could possibly contain other hints and tips than just campsites ?

Maybe one more sticky for current events ?

Keep the ideas coming ...I want to collect some more and then have vote of sorts what we (not just me but all of us) want / prefer.

I think the first year has been very good with lots of interesting stuff appearing. Fair play to Peasant for the work involved.
The adverts.ie idea is a good one. I have some camping stuff to offload once in a while!!
What about a "hints & idea" section? Also, what about considering Caravans considering the ammount in common.
Should consider a meet at some point as was hinted a while back.
We'll done to all in the first year for making it such a great success.;)

Why do you think I've got a picture of my ugly van in my signature?

I'm expecting spontaneous outpourings of pints should I ever be spotted out and about :D:D:D

(with a van as ugly as that...there are no excuses ...sorry, didn't recognize you there ...)

btw ...the one on the left is the current one

I think it is fine as it is considering the traffic levels.

I'm not that long on the site but I found the threads helpful when I was buying the MH. Good responses all round whenever a question is asked.

Low enough traffic at times tho (makes me have to trawl some of the other forums).

Hopefully coming into the summer the favorite campsite thread will see a few additional posts.

    I second this motion .

Thanks for the quick and helpful replies. An event could be organised by say suggesting a number of different type events on a bank holiday weekend say and allowing posters an e-vote.

    Thanks,

    Chevy RV

Another thought is that it's good to support posts with photos. It's hard sometimes to visualise what people are talking about when you only have your own MH forreference. Interesting to see what kind of a set-up other people have too.

Peasant, is there a way to reduce/compress the amount of stickys when the main page is opened? Between the top banner, stickys etc. need to scroll down to see new posts. Am I just being lazy??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,819 ✭✭✭✭peasant

Yes, you're right ...it's getting a bit much

Unfortunately, they can't be compressed, only un-stickied.

The charter and the MCD thingy HAVE to be there ...boards rules.

I'll get rid of the "open invitation" one again in a week or two.

With the others, I'm open to suggestions as to which one(s) should be let slip down the ranks.
