Eircom broadband

i have recently been in contact with eircom with the intention of availing of their broadband service. but, because i have an eircom phonewatch alarm they telll me i need to pay €85 to have my phoneline split. can anyone tell me exactly what they do and is there anyway it can be done cheaper or by myself??:confused:

just go to eircom.ie, broadband services>get broadband and theres a link at the bottom pf the page
