My feedback thread wasn't about the thread in Paranormal, that just sparked me thinking.

This thread was to get feedback from people about how they would respond to people posting using alternative alighment styles.

I've gotten plenty of good (and on topic) responses here so obviously those epeople thought it was worth replying to.

Also the reason its in Feedback and not Hepldesk was because I wanted to here from mods and users - who cant post in Helpdesk.

fair enough, i just felt that there were a few posts here which led to a bad taste in the mouth - if one could eat posts....

well, my tuppence is that bad spelling is tolerated and people pointing it out can be frowned upon, i think the same should go for punctuation. the post which started your train of thought is actually intelligent, if you go to the bother of putting in the full stops and the commas and so on. does this mean that the poster had perhaps some disabiltiy or problem? maybe my terminology is crude, but you get what i mean. That is different from deciding to use formatting styles for a use they are not intended for.

Yep. To which you responded in a deliberately contrary fashion. It's no surprise to me at all that people got irritated at you.

I am still at a complete loss as to the point of this thread or what feedback it is giving, beyond what I suspect is a bit of limelight chasing from the OP... :^/
Sorry 6th, I just dont get it. You post in an annoying way and people get annoyed about it?

    Well.... fnck me.

The whole first page of this thread.

I'm sure it's some attempt at playing devils advocate... but there didn't seem to be any real attempt to take on board what was being said. I certainly gave up responding fairly quickly as a result.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,247 ✭✭✭✭6th

    Ok to clear it up.

I noted that some people really get annoyed when posters post in a particular way i.e. text speak, no punctuation, poor grammar. Posters even get persoanl abuse for it.

So seeing as there is nowhere which says how people should post (format etc) I decided I wanted to know the opinions of others on Boards about posting styles such as alignment.

    Its fairly staright forward.

If I had just wanted traffic to my blog I could have done it alot easier - I'm a creative guy plus I work in advertising.

So to address DeVore: NO I wasnt trying to get traffic, I do fine on my own thanks.

monkeyfudge: Did I take on board what people were saying? YES I even thank people for their responses.

This was dragged off topic and turned into somethign else by other people, not me.

No people got annoyed by the fact that i was posting, not by how I was posting. Theres a difference and if you want to look closer you'll see it.

I know anyone who has met you will consider you a good guy, myself included. But you really should think about how you put yourself across in the feedback forum. Because it never seems to be overly appealing.

  • Business & Finance Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 32,387 Mod ✭✭✭✭DeVore

There are no rules in society that says you cant talk to someone while clicking your fingers in their face at the same time, but I suspect if you did that you'd find out that society has some "implicitly agreed parameters" in how people communicate and they would get annoyed about the manner in which you had decided to communicate with them.

I'm sorry, I'm still completely at a loss as to what the point of this thread was..... :(

there is an appeal to it, and that appeal is "Please make me a mod".

I'm guessing he did a three year course in graphic design (recently) and is prooving it by feigning exasperation at peoples incorrect use of typography and text alligment.

This is stringently taught in design courses and when designers see other people not adhering to it they get all knowallish.

Regarding the rest of the thread, I don't know, its bizzare.

Hehe.. this is off topic I know, but for someone who started a thread about people making mistakes with regard to grammar, punctuation, spelling etc, you certainly have a lot of mistakes in your own posts. I've just highlighted the main spelling mistakes & a grammar mistake.

Guess the point is... not one of us is perfect eh?;)

The topic got all the attention from me it deserved. There isn't enough viagra in the world for someone to gety a hard on for you.
Now for your next masterpiece could you maybe draw me again but make it look like I give a fuck? Seriously, my mum says she'll buy it and put it on the fridge.
Does she find it that hard to be proud of you?
