Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    What OS?
Did you try reinstalling file from CD?
    Or http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?hal

    Before you install, google more.
This is an important file and you don't wanna break something

try booting your xp disk and and choose recovery console.
type the number of your installation when prompted ( usually 1)
    type the administrator password
    type chkdsk
    or chkdsk /p
    type exit when finished.

That file tells windows what hardware is installed. Have you installed anything new recently? cause the driver may be the cause. Anyway you can restore it using system restore.

To use system restore follow this guide

Once you get into system restore you will get a dos box (black screen) follow the guide below for instructions on the commands to restore the file.

To restore the hal.dll system files use this guide

Let us know how it goes.

The OS is cycling with 30second countdown - tries to open window then back to black screen with same error.
Tried inserting disk (with the hal driver) in CD driive, turned pc off/on but pc is not looking at CD drive there to boot/rebooticon9.gif

You could always just reinstall the OS over itself. That way you still keep all your files, the OS system files will be reverted to the originals. Once finished you should run any updates.
