I'd love to go back to college and was curious what courses would suit someone that was good at maths in school. I made the mistake of choosing a business course when I left school and I dropped out in the first year. I had no interest in it.

    Thanks for the time
    Clem

    Engineering or a science course.

    Maybe teaching?

Do an Arts degree with Maths Studies as one of your options. I did Philosophy, Anthropology and MS. Dropped Anthro after year 1 and Philosophy after year 2, ending up doing Double Hons Maths Studies and Stats. If Maths is what you like and are good at then do it. In many Unis, Arts may be a 3 year degree, while Engineering and Science would be 4 years. I still ended up doing the same Stats courses as 4th year Science students, except after 3 years.

Meant to add: The Maths Studies course may be called something else at other unis.

I'm in my first year of a Maths and Stats degree with open university at the moment and loving it, I like maths at school but ended up doing a science degee, I like science, but now returning to my real interest, doing the OU route because I'm working.

if you're sure about maths look into maths/stats/engineering type courses. if you want to try out a few other areas, as was said already, do Arts and pick a few other subjects with it as well. Or maybe a general science degree and do some science with maths in first year and then specialise

If you want to do maths, then do maths!
I fail to see the point in doing Anthropology or Philosophy or whatever, your just dragging things out.
I ain't done formal maths in a long time, I started last year in Kevin St. DIT doing their introductory maths course ( Higher Level Cert in Mathematics), it's a two night a week for two years course.
Do that and your all set for another two nights a week for two years degree course at the same venue :-)

Not having done a leaving cert ( have done college engineering maths some years ago), it was pretty hard to catch up to where I should be, but a lot of hard work later and we're good to go.

I was thinking about doing the OU course but settled on Kevin St.
It's working for me, course is good, and I can see myself doing the degree.

    Worth considering for sure
