That looks the biz pornstar, very unique looking. needs a sight to take up some of that rail space though. :)

I need to save for holidays. But when I get back Ill be sticking an Eotech and flip up sight on it. That should take up some of that space :p.

You can buy the official Magpul version on ehobbyasia hightower. Clones are hard to find because Magpul are stopping people exporting them from China. PM sent.

I like the pistol Hightower, but I think the silencer doesnt suit it. needs to be thinner and longer (sounded dirty)...

I'd love to know where you found a 229 threaded barrel, I can only find ones for the 226.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

i would go with the vfc one http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?itm=VFC-HGP22603_srch_p226 its very very nice

you also have the prime http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?itm=PRI-SL-HCPAS029_srch_p226

guarder do just the barrel but that is semi hard to find in stock

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

They are the 226 barrels, its the 229s that are like hens teeth. I put my 226 threaded barrel in my 229 to try it once but it looked terrible.

Do you know if the vfc one is compatible with a ksc p226 chris?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,207 ✭✭✭hightower1

Yeah the ones for 229's are near impossible find so get the 226 version (it sticks out the front by a good cm and a half but if you have the right tools you can thread the exterior of the barrel to mate up with the interior of the silencer.

I dont intent on removing the silencer regularly, only for maintenance so it suited great for me but its tricky to fit so it doesnt go wonkey.

Well worth the time doing it right though, fell in love with pistols all over again after it so next is going to be a hitman silverballer project.

    nice setup pud,

do ya think after all the hype that the Tavor was worth the price? I'm still on the fence as to weather or not to get one and that TSI one looked sh1t so im half tempted by Ares, just dont want another unique gearbox that i'll never be able to get parts for. :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

the aeg is excellent got a chance to give it a run out this weekend and performance is excellent, its a joy to carry, the finish is excellent and the build quality of the aeg is impressive, for the money thought its hard to justify when your throwing away the mars, i would recommend the aeg to anyone and really hope that ares bring out a version just with the rail mount at a lower price, would be a big seller

i was very interested in the tsi version but all the pictures i've seen have not been great, the sizeing just looks off to me also finish was crap ( ok it was called a prototype but we have not seen anything else to go by so was not willing to shell out a pre order) also it keeps getting delayed

Like the job on the AK Dex, its got a degree of bling, but its not the obnoxious ultra shiny chrome. I think the phrase "spanner chrome" came up before...

I might still hate it because its an AK though...

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

"Spanner chrome" is chrome-vanadium alloy usually. Sometimes chrome-molybdenum. That AK is none of the above. It's plated silver, not chrome. Steel body to start with, then copper, nickel and finally silver.

It has a matt finish because it's not finished in the same way you'd see a trophy or the likes finished. I did that on purpose because the mirror finish on something like this would be insanely difficult to get uniformly (try buffing out that entire thing without biasing an area, hollow or high spot) and also just as hard to keep.

The matt finish is a bit more practical, keeps a little bit of shine and still looks just enough like the kind of thing you'd find in a Middle Eastern warlord's bedroom closet or tucked casually under the open jacket of a citizen of South-Central Los Angeles circa 1992.

to hell with the copper, nickel and silver (which is just great)
i think the grain in the wood looks just fantastic

Nice AK Dex, doing a Somali Warlord loadout:pac::pac::pac:

Its the first ak ive seen in a while that i dont hate straight away

To buck the trend i just don't like it. But at the same time i can appreciate the job that has been done on it, it's a very nice finish!
