Ah, grow a sense of humour

Sam: Ja, sounds like they cut the spring to downgrade it. Best bet, is take it down and swap it out for a m100 for the vsr (actually fits fine) will be the right length, but not boingy.... If you want bullets, pm me and ill tell you how, save cluttering the thread.

VSR springs are too short for it, it needs an APS2 type of spring.,

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

Not so, they actually work Richie... its under less tension than an aps2 stacked, but its the right length when its screwd together in the cylinder... did it to a 96 for use over here.

The spring thats in the barrett is an M100 VSR spring....

it fires at 1J but the spring is able to move, hence the noise bullets spoke of.

mmm, interesting my mistake, perhaps you should use the correct parts for the job at Eiresoft then?

    as in,

the same parts you've just recommended?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

Well, yes, I've used it, and its not produced that issue in any of the rifles I did it to... But I did it to an aps2, sgg, and l96 models...

Though if it does this, and you know, Why havent you adressed it in your downgrade procedure?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

Theres a trick involving balancing two springs, one weak and one strong either side of the piston head, you use a washer as a bushing for in front of the piston.

It also reduces noise if done right, as there is no frontal piston impact. I did it to the ssg(I know, muck) because it was hot as snot, needed half the spring off, and would have ended up with a spring way too short.

Bit of a custom job, but its pretty snaz the way it works. It depends how badly you want to reduce the piston noise and boing effect if you wanted a silent sniper for gaming, but a silent barret would be a bit sh1t.

Edit: lol, two lively posts appeared in the course of writing that, never mind me

    /backs away slowly...

I didn't realize this was the Eirsoft thread.

    Oh wait, it's not.

Take it to the correct place and stop playing the wind up game.

I really like this thread. I read it daily. I think it's a great place to show off gear to new players and get them interested.

If I see people getting bitchy like this again with teh Drama I'll be handing out bans.

Kinda workin on something similar myself Puding, concentrating on upgrading all the internals first which is almost complete. Would love too see a list of the various parts you added when you have it finished, it might give me some inspiration:)

Cheers, yeh I'm happy with how it turned out, though busy rails wont be to everyone's liking I'm sure. It cost a lot. Maybe close to a grand. It will be the last gun I buy for a long while..... hopefully.

Cheers richie yea it's sweet to shoot as well and deadly accurate, it's showing some wear signs from the serpa now but i think it suits it. The grips are from a TM tactical master the i had lying around. The white trades kinda let it down and i can't for the life of me find a metal outer barrel for it but's top notch all the same:)

Base gun is the King Arms Vltor VIS

STAR M4 Knights SR-15 Trigger Guard

    Madbull Noveske Amplifier

King Arms G16 STANDARD Pistol Grip

    Prometheus 6.03mm (285mm)

    G&P Multi Magazine Catch

    Eotech 557 clone

    4x Magnifier With Flip-To-Side Mount

    VFC AN/PEQ-15 Battery Case

    Clone Magpul sling

    G&P Slim rail cover

    Clone UBR Stock

    Guarder Hop up bucking

    I think that is everything.

I ordered this front grip but they are waiting for a restock.

Its shooting around 320fps. The gearbox internals seem pretty good, so I wont need to change anything there for now at least. When it breaks Ill fix the AOE of the gears/piston.
