upgrading a few bits. suggestions?

so ive got 500 quid.

planning on getting this:

Radeon 3870 OCl 512mb - 220 euro
Samsung 500gb S300 - 81 euro
samsung lightscribe dvd burner - 28 euro
Akasa Hard Disk Drive cooler - 7 euro

350 inc delivery.

3870 is to replace my 7950gx2
only have a raptor 150gb so need the 500gb drive
lightscribe sounds handy.
and the akasa hd cooler for the raptor thats already there.

opinions on them?

they will be running with my main rig
qx6700
2gb mushkin redline
680i striker
150gb raptor

anyone think i should upgrade something else instead?

was thinking of replacing the mushkin ram with these

Timings for those ram are 5-6-6-18 @ 800Mhz :eek:
I'll refer you back to this thread, best value for money choices are there.
these are better sticks

Other choice for gpu would be a 3870x2, out in a week. Similar to your gx2, its 2 3870's on one card.

pog, currently ive got these babies in the machine.

but im not shelling out another 360 euro to get 2gb more!

would it be worth keeping them in the rig or changing them for the 4gb ones you linked?

also, the 3870x2 looks amazing but the cost!!!

sounds like a plan. bought them thinkin id have the time to superclock my rig but just not bothered anymore.

just gotta wait 2 weeks to get un-banned from adverts so :O

and ive decided not to bother getting one. already have an itouch so kinda pointless.

should i get the 3870 hd or an 8800gt?
