Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you repeat, do you have to repeat all subjects?

Or could I (should I fail lol) repeat just one subject next year to boost up my overall points?

Don't think so. A friend of mine did okay in her Leaving a few years ago but she failed English. She did English again the following year and no other subjects. Unless this has changed in the last couple of years you should be okay!
Who knows, maybe you will do very well first time around and won't need to repeat at all!
    Best of luck!

You can only take points from one year in total, so if you don't get the points this year, you'll need to repeat all (or 6 or whatever) your subjects and go for the points again. You can't just add them together as far as I'm aware.

If you get the points you need, but fail say, French, and your course requires a pass in French, then you can repeat only French and keep your points from the last year.

You need two components for your college admission: grades, and points. You can take whatever grades you want from any Leaving Cert examination years you have sat and mix and match If I recall correctly. However the point-total can only be calculated from a single year. CAO automatically uses your best point-total to perform your preference applications.

and very importantly: all of this information is in your CAO handbook

FFS man :p Im amazed how often CAO has been allowed to justify saying "Its in the handbook". ITS ALL IN THE HANDBOOK. LEAVE THE HANDBOOK NEXT TO THE TOILET. READ IT WHEN YOU DROP A LOG.

    That is all... :)

edit: no its not - STOP THINKING ABOUT ABANDONING SUBJECTS. Why would you want to put yourself through a 6th year if you dont have to? Thats exactly how I thought in 5th and then I realised how stupid it was in 6th :D

You have 4 months. That is more than enough time for ANYONE to kick LC ass.
