It's a battery charger. great prices in america. I would get one but I am sick of using american plugs with converters.

The converters are expensive and an eyesore.

I also have a question regarding an external soundcard I sourced from America. It uses an adaptor which (I think) sends 12V DC to the SC. It has an american plug also. Can I use any 12V adaptor for this so I can get a Irish 3 pin one?

Yes you can use an irish adapter once its output is 12Vdc.
