Forget 222 bhp, what you really want is 280 bhp!

At least this might be a conclusion a Ford Focus ST owner might have come to. But fear not, very soon Ford will answer that "problem" with the new Focus RS. Same basic engine as Focus ST, FWD believe it or not, though there will be a trick electronic diff(maybe like Alfa's Q2 system, or else like the one in the old RS?), 0-100 in around 6 seconds, artificially limited to 250, I bet Ford fans can't wait!

    Here's the full story!

The Q2 is purely mechanical diff, no electronics involved which is why it works so well :D

I'd much prefer a 4wd system. Back to the old escort cossie days.

A few articles recently said it would be a 4wd system in the RS. I wouldn't take much heed of any of these car magazines commenting on a car that is still in development.

Trick diff or not i can't imagine a front wheel drive car handling that much power. Also got to say its an ugly looking thing and they just robbed the bumber from the new mondeo.
They should put 4 wheel drive in it.

I think that is a mock up.

    They released this pic recently.

Ford are not at the top of the fwd game, and with 280bhp will probably end up with an eejit of a car, which wouldn't be the first time.

Currently you can get an offical Ford approved upgrade in the UK for the ST from the standard 222bhp to 260bhp. The Fiesta ST also has a similar upgrade available.

While the Focus chassis is excellent I think maybe 280bhp through the front wheels might be a bridge too far. I can only image 4wd would make the car too expensive and possibly heavy.

Buckets of under steer. It will end up like that powerful Vectra.

Hopefully they'll fit a proper diff and not an electronic job.

The Quaife Diff in the last Focus RS was the job
