Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A short hop to beat those Dublin winter blues. We're staying in the Andrassy hotel at the northern end of the Andrassy Avenue, near the embassy and residential area.

Andrassy Street is a nice walk, and the Terror Museum is worth a quick visit.
Museum of Fine Arts + the national gallery + the Zoo + Heroes' Square + Ice skating rink + a nice spa + Agriculture museum (Nearby castle) are within walking distance (all around the Hero Sq. area)
As is Millenium Underground/metro 1 runs by there - practical and old -> There are some nice tea houses on Jokai street. :)

A walk by the Danube into the castle in District 1 makes for a nice evening. You can stop for drinks in a boat.

What are you into? Museums? Shopping? Night life?

All of the above really. I usually come back exhausted from a holiday because I try to do so much.

Good shopping recommendations would be appreciated, as would a good thermal bath.

    Baths/spa by Heroes' Sq. : http://www.spa.hu/angol/szechenyispa_en.html
It's quite basic. Although, the building is nice & it's close by.
There are nicer baths in Buda, but one or two might operate male/female-only days & they're some distance. The nicer spas/baths are way outside Budapest.

    Shopping:
West End/Nyugati - simliar to a shopping centre you'd get over here.
Tram 4 or 6 from Nyugati to Buda - Mammut - again, quite similar to a shopping centre you'd get over here.
Otherwise, Vorosmarty Sq. (Final stop of metro 1) & Vaci Street - fancy boutiques and more Hungarian shops. Get some 'mulled' wine while you shop.
