I currently have a Radeon X600 256 - however I recently was giving Medal of Honor (Airborne) - and after installing I am told that the graphics card is not supported.

Therefore what card would I be best upgrading to?

    x600 is pretty dated....

What kinda pc do you have,p4,1gb ram etc?

    Graphics card is Pci Express?

    What your budget?

    Budget is actually immaterial (yay)

Specs are: 512 MB RAM (ouch didnt think it was that low), 3gig P4, running XP

Might just get a new machine

Yeah to be honest, MOH would need both a better processor and more ram as well as a new video card, it's a punishing game.

To run it at reasonable settings, you'd be looking I'd say ideally at a minimum of a 2ghz Core 2/2.2Ghz Amd X2, 1.5Gb of Ram and an X1950Pro or similar class card.

yeah I figured as much - might just get a new comp - with a damn fine card (any recommendations beside the X1950 Pro)

MOH: Airborne requires Shader Model version 3, the x600 doesnt have this feature so it wont work with Airborne or most Unreal Engine 3 games, if you want to get a new computer with new video card, The Nvidia 8800GT is good value, so is the ATI HD 3850 card... The 8800GT performs a good bit better than the 3850, but the 3850 is cheaper... They both support Shader Model 3 so its no issiues there ;)

Well in terms of modern cards the X1950Pro isn't up to much, but was just an example of the cheapest path possible to play Airborne on decent settings (1280x1024, High). Depends on what you play - If Airborne would be the height of it, sure, an X1950Pro is cheap and decent at anything bar the likes of Crysis. Overclockers.co.uk currently have that and the slightly better 256mb X2900GT for 90 euro - good prices.

The best mid-range performance cards out now would be the 8800GTS 512mb (270-330), or for a slightly lower budget, the 512mb 8800GT (230-270), or lower again, the HD3870 (190-210). Then we go to the budget cards for 17" and below monitors, in the Hd3850 (120-150) and 256mb 8800GT (140-180).

The X1950 is miles behind any of those. The Hd3870 and 8800Gt, 256mb HD3850 and 256mb 8800GT, are fairly even, in most cases. You're talking about running the latest games at 1680x1050 high settings with AA enabled for the 512mb cards, same settings at 1280x1024 for the 256mb models with the Nvidia cards pulling a few extra frames in general. Except Crysis, but that game is an exception regarding performance.

well based on all that and obviously games are only get more graphic intensive - what card now, would be a good investment

You mean with that current machine? If you really want to play Airborne, I'd just get another 1gb of ram, and something like an 8600GT. Anything else would be overkill with such an old processor.

If you mean in terms of a new computer, well, either the 512mb 8800GTS, or the new 3870X2, both sub 400, and both excellent performers. Though Nvidias new cards are out soon, so worth waiting for that.
