Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    weird..

Fwiw the Canon Museum has it down for 9,800,000 Yen new, which converts to approx. 62,803.78 Euro... which is about $91,814.10

But as I've just said over MSN, you'd either want to have an incredibly good reason for wanting one, or you'd just look like a muppet having one.

To which ChallengeMaster replied "still it'd be sweet to say you own it".

    :D

Edit, I said fool, not muppet! whoops! :D

it's nice, but is it $100k nice?

We talked about it on one of the kite forums and the view of myself and the other pro kitesurfer was that we wouldn't want it. Me, it's just not flexible enough as it's fixed focal length, and iirc correctly, you won't be moving very far with it either.

Bloody hell. 1900-odd mm on a 1.6x camera :D According to wikipedia it'll take regular canon teleconvertors too. Perhaps a telescope would be a wiser investment!

Pshaw.. I wouldnt move at all. I'd take all my surfing photos from the car.. parked in the drive... 20 miles from the beach. Might have to set it to underexpose a bit, but I'd be fairly confident I'd still get the shot.

A telescope would probably be a better investment for astro-photography, in truth.

I saw a big fat looking one (I think) in Conns not long ago. Was wide but not very long, could I be mixing it up with a super wide angle lens or something?

Probably a canon 500mm or 600mm or maybe the sigma 800mm

Yep, couldn't agree more! Although I might be too well-endowed to own it.

Ah no did a search for that wasn't anything like that. It was the diameter of one of those giant turkey dishes you can get I suppose. Actually it looked like a drum, one of the side ones on a kit. Just deeper.

I just came across this on the B and h site and decided to put it on my christmas wish list. While doing a search on the lens I see you guys where dicussing this nearly two years ago.

Well the lens is still for sale second hand, but to help them sell it they've upped the price by 30,000 dollars.

Scales of economy and the like I suppose!?!

    Canon 1200mm

It went up in price because you put it on your wish list :p
