Garnish House is the one we send visitors to. It's literally across the road from the entrance to UCC.

pool and gym isnt needed, literally just a place to sleep that night but prefer to go for a b&b (friend with me who doesnt want a hostel) - garnish looks nice but a little pricey
    any other ideas?

    hi Splinter,

haven't checked prices but these are also supposed to be decent:
    Crawford House - <http://www.cord-guide.ie/corkcity/crawford-house/welcome.html>
    Shandon Bells - <http://www.shandonbells.com/>

Mr Scaryfairy stayed in Garnish house, had the time of his life (they stuff you with food even before you register at the reception) , room was on the small side but very cosy and clean. And extremely friendly staff.

    good luck
