second harddrive

looking to add a second haeddrive to a compaq pressario 6240ea with 1.8g amd and 762mb ram.

any one no what sort of hard drive they take and what is the max size that can be added.
also is the standard power supply sufficent for second hard drive.

It probably uses a IDE interface (PATA) so any capacity 3.5" PATA drive should work for a desktop or 2.5" for laptop, only limitations you could come accross would be file system ones (format it to NTFS if possible rather than FAT32), also some older OSes pre 2k mightn't handle too big ammounts of space, you should be fine though, your power supply should be ok for a new hard drive, just once your running windows 2k, Xp etc you'll be ok

Yeah those drives should work ok, when you get one you must format it using the disk management in windows (Very easy to do ), I'd advise against western digital and go either with seagate or samsung, had bad expieriences with WD in the past, if your on xp I see no reason why a 500gig drive wont work, just youll have to format it once installed
