Looking to buy a simple modchip, like DuoX2 GS or similar.

Yer man on modchipsireland.com doesn't seem to interested in selling me one as he hasn't replied to me in 4 days.

Anyone got any suggestions for a reliable source?

    Thanks.

Softmod is the way to go. Just as well developed as modchip and takes 5 mins to install from scratch.
Krayzie's Ndure is the best of the XBOX softmods IMO.

Well said and done, but I'd have to buy a memory card and one of games in question.

Nope you wouldnt, I used this tutorial a few weeks ago and it works great, best thing is its free and doesnt need any memory cards or games to do.

No need for modchips at all.

Aaarrgh! I have the 4034 dashboard and no way to update it!

4034!! **** sake, rent a modern xbox game, halo2 for example and update dashboard.

longfield mods works perfectly. If not many others here, myself included have memory card and game required to install the mod.

Well worth the effort, heres a screen cap I just took

There's so much stuff you can use a modded xbox for you'll wonder how you ever did without one!

Very nice Longfield. Its an amazingly powerful piece of software. If you take the effort to index your music with covers/id3tags, it looks fab.

Edit: What TV you using? Its got plenty of overscan. Maybe you can get into service mode and reduce it down to 2%, should improve things.

Well spotted ongarite, you've a sharp eye for detail.
I had the screen in "smart" mode (Sony widescreen option that stretches 4:3 images "smartly" to fit widescreen format).
I just realised I had configured the XBMC overscan in smart mode also too, which i've since rectified.
Nice one, thanks for pointing it out.

Yep your screencaps look much better sized now.
The movie posters look great, pulled from impa awards.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,418 ✭✭✭✭Supercell

Dunno where they are pulled from tbh, I just set content as movies and told it to scan away based on the folder names and thats the result.
Just checked out that imph site, wow, thats pretty intersting - I collect genuine movie posters and never came accross that before, very interesting , thanks again :)

Yeah I think the IMDB scraper pulls posters from IMPA Awards automatically.
I use my own covers, I can't remember the site at the moment. I'll give a link if I can find it.

Your movie view looks a bit different to mine yet I seem to have the same settings, does it change to smaller 3d images when the amount gets bigger or something?
Must admit I like the 3d look, or is that what your scraper is using as source?

I just think your scraped posters are much bigger than my standard size ones. The way you get them to work is by having them in the same folder as your films and then name then "Film Name".tbn.
I have 300.avi, so then have 300.tbn in same folder and it caches it automatically. You will have to update them manually and xbox as they are cached already.

Found the link to the 3d posters

Ah , I see, I reckon i'll just leave it the way it is so.

No, you can get an Xbox1 from boardsies (checkout adverts.ie) for about 50 euro which seems to be the going price.

At least thats what I paid for the last two I bought.

Modding is free and if you are stuck plenty of help here, its really not that hard once you get good advice..which is here in spades :)

I need to email the seller, but looks like the Xbox is already chipped and includes a 250gb hard drive

    It's down the description

    Surely that's a good deal?

Id imagine that ad will be gone in a day or two. eBay don't allow sale of modded consoles. This seller has got around it by crossing out all the words to make it really difficuly to read.
