Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

its not called cockyness man, its called expecting our team to win. united are a better team than spurs, we are at home. we SHOULD be winning this game. but anything can happen, i think we are all aware of that.

1-0 Spurs, Robbie Keane, great play from Lennon

1-1, Tevez. Dawson had a howler, giggs had a poor touch which Tevez followed up on and slammed into the net

City one down. Cross in from the left hits two balloons in the goalmouth and deceives Michael Ball to leave an easy tap in. Hilarious stuff

How did he make a mistake? The ball hit two balloons and bounced awkwardly as a result

yes mate, he did....it was a terrible piece of defending, if it hit a bobble, then it would be the same...he should have been in control of the suituation and got some tough on it, it went through his legs, he made an awful hash of it...

    from bbc -

In all my days, never have I have been proven so right about balloons.

Lee Martin escapes down the left and crosses into the box where Man City defender Michael Ball gets all mixed up with the white and blue balloons on the pitch and steps over the ball to allow Luton Shelton to tap in at the far post.

Ball really was "one step out of time" there. That's a Eurovision gag.

So if a ball hits not one but two bobbles in front of you and bounces funny instead of rolling you should be able to judge where it's going with a striker up your arse? Come on now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    Lovely

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,049 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

The irony of it all was City fans lauched all the balloons in the fist place. Sure its all the one now as SU have gotten a second

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

And that was a red there for Martin. Ireland got sent for the same thing against Spurs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

Goalkeepers fault. Its common knowledge that 'keepers must stamp on balloons when the ball is up the other end. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

I think the biggest problem wasn't the two BLUE baloons it hit but the WHITE one it rolled passed very hard to judge the ball beside a white baloon.

Martin should have seen red very lucky to be on the pitch.

yes....u should always be in control of the ball, these players are professional footballers and should be able to deal with things like this, simple as that. all he needed was to get his foot behind the ball and in all fairness, it wasn exactly a big switch in movement.defensive error, full stop. if it happened to a united player, i would be very unhappy with him.

    2-0 anyway, stead.

LOL yea professional footballers work on dealing with baloons beside the ball every day in training, ffs seriously!

oh cos that is what i said ya? read my post again and you will see that we are talking about a basic bobble or movement of direction, i never mentioned baloons in the post, neither did xavi. if ur defending a player in this suituation, then its u that needs to get serious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Well as I said it wasn't a bobble that caused the problem it was having a White baloon beside the ball. Pretty easy to see it on the replay really

Eh I did. They caused the bobble. The ball was running fine til it hit them so of course they played a part.

Anyway we've been a bunch of prima donnas and deserve to be losing.
