Timing belt change on Mitsubishi Carisma

Hi all, Any idea how much a timing belt change on a 99 Mitsubishi Carisma should set me back? My mechanic is charging me €600 odd, but a mate of mine says he got his done (on a 94 Corolla) for €150. Why the discrepancy?

They are two totally different cars.
I'm not familiar with the front of the Carisma but maybe as with some other marques, you must effectively remove the front end of the car (bumper, etc).

Depending on wether its petrol or diesel and the size of the engine.

But should be no more than about three hundred euro.
