Just wondering if any of you Galway boardsies were around Cross St in the wee hours. I'm looking for any witnesses to an attempted break in at Tempo Antiques at 6:35am.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. (Not looking to do the vigilante thing; any info will be going to the gardai, without witness name if necessary).

    Thanks.

    David.

You'd be lucky i'd say. At that time of the morning it'd be more like people with early starts than late night revellers. Are there any cameras nearby? You might get lucky from that.

I suppose you know this by now, but saw it in the paper today.

At approx 6.30am on Saturday the offender was seen hanging around outside Tempo Antiques. He had a large metal weight with him and proceeded to throw it at the shop window.

He was wearing a dark blue jacket, a light blue hat and may have gotten into a taxi after the incident.

Thanks for that; had heard it on GBFM, but didn't realise it was in the paper too.

Here's a pic of the guy from cctv with the weight in his hand.

Sorry the pic is so bad; anyone any good at cleaning up images???

Hope you get onto something anyway.

Thank you very much for that, Proxy.

Out of interest, what software do you use for that?

Just Photoshop and general geekery. Photoshop is great for postgrad procrastination :D

That sucks Fey! I hope they get him. At least it was "only" attempted burgalry, hopefully that's as close as you'll ever be to a real break-in.

    Thanks for that.

The response from people who've seen the window broken has been amazing; we've even had people pop their heads in to say "hope they catch the barsteward" who we've never seen before!

Thankfully he didn't manage to make it through the window, despite throwing a 15kg iron weight at it. Also, it was the first time in 13 years that anyone's had a go, so the way we're looking at it was that it was a very long run of luck!!!

Was it actually attempted robbery or some vandal with a grudge. He's bright hat and bight blue jacket doesn't suggest he has seasoned attire for robbery.

It was an attempted robbery. He arrived aroun 5:50, put the weight in place at around 6:10, then waited for the street to empty and then picked up the weight to smash the window at around 6:35.
