Howya Lads/lassies, we had one of these before and it was a great day. Any chance we could get another one going?

If interested please reply and we will all try and get a date & place sorted.

Also if you know somewhere that we can have the use of 2 or more boards on a Saturday afternoon please include aswell.

    Cheers

Can help with the tournie this year lads because I'm away at the moment. I'll sticky this at the top if you want so that it will get more interest.

MBC do you wanna take control of organising this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

Yeah a sticky would be a good idea.

I dont mind organising it.........who were the people that helped out last time Kingp35?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,310 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

DFD was the main man behind it, he got the boards and the Tassie to as well so might eb good idea to talk to him about it.

I'll help as much as I can from here.

I know the tassie would hold it again if yer into playing it there and i could get the boards up.lets see what everyone else thinks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

Thats excellent DFD cheers for that..........I could get the farmhouse aswell if needed also.

Surely there is more interest out there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,153 ✭✭✭Rented Mule

I think we are up to four people !! lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

I think we are up to four people !! lol

I know interest is slow this time around. If I put a poster or sommit up in me local im sure about 10 or more would go aswell if needed. Do you think we should put a closing date on it or something (say 2 weeks time).......at least then if we have enough interest we will go ahead if not......then we wont.

I enjoyed the last one and would like to play again. As soon as you have a date I will let you know how many of my pals will play. Last time 5 of the played.

    Whatever is going to work.

I am going to be out of the country for a few weeks in March so I think you should probably get as many people who say that they may be interested and then work on some provisional dates.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

    Cheers PGough.

    So Far:

MBC (can get others if needed)
    farmhousedfc
    Rented Mule
    DFD
    Pgough (+ others)

This is what im thinking of planning......please throw in your 2pence worth also.

1pm Draw will be made. All winners of Round 1 matches head onto round 2. Losers of round 1 matches will go into another draw. And then play like a tournie of there own.
So each player is guaranteed 2 games at least.

I'll throw a date out there and see how it goes:

    Saturday 1st March........1pm.......Venue to be announced........entrance will be €10.

  • Registered Users Posts: 670 ✭✭✭DFD

there could be anything up to 10 interested from tassie maybe more

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,310 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

I'll say the word to my mates that played last time, I'm sure they will play again. I will also get the admins to put up an announcement for the tournament on all the sport pages about two weeks before the tournament.

So date is 1st March. All you guys have to do now is decide on a venue to suit all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

Im easy, The Tassie was good the last time. DFD I'll let you call this one:D

    Tassie or Farmhouse you decide?

  • Registered Users Posts: 670 ✭✭✭DFD

hmmmm well now . . . .who to choose. . . .I'd have to go for the tassie and the reason being is that its just off the m50 for anyone using that route and on a direct bus route from town.thats if it suits everyone of course.

Well lads how did you get on? How many turned up and who won in the end?

There were 16 people entered in a best of five format (501).

Don't remember the two lads names that were in the final.

I had a great day out and was happy enough with my darts considering I haven't thrown much the past few years.

I would hope to see a few more of these little tournaments scheduled in the near future. I would say that you could probably do this once a month and have a similar turnout. (not trying to put any pressure on anyone !! lol)

We had a marathon game of 'Killer' afterwards as well.

I also have to mention that I learned a valuable lesson on Saturday. I found out that Dublin Bus drivers will not pick you up if you wave them down with a bottle of wine in your hand !!

Thanks to MBC and everyone at the Silver Tassie for everything that went into Saturday !!

Ye it was ok turn out..

The Quality of the darts was pretty high especially from JR Crangle (Lough Inn Monday)who played superb and even through a few 180's in...

Special thanks to John and paul and the silver tassie for holding the event.

Well done to JR who beat and Tony maher (tassie) in the final..

A bit more advertising would be better to get the numbers up..

Rented mule delighted for u to win the bottle of wine..as u had to make a little bit of a travel to make

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,153 ✭✭✭Rented Mule

The southside of Chicago really isn't that far when you think about it !! lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

Yeah have to say it turned well even with the low numbers. The standard was pretty good.
Cheers to DFD, & the manager of the silver tassie for donating 3 prizes.

    Prize Winners:
Meal for 2 Voucher winner Gary Healy
Bottle of wine winner Noel Kerr
Bottle of wine winner Tom Quirke (funny guy)

I'll have all the results up for tomorrow.

    Cheers again.

I really wanted to get up but my Daughter got sick with tonsilitis,
I hope some more tournaments can be organised in the near future.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,310 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Obviously i couldn't have much input into this tournament but i will be home in about 2 months so i will definitely try get a regular tournament going, maybe once every two months. With a bit of advertising we could get some good numbers going.

Glad everyone had a good day anyway. Fair play to all who organised it and to those who played.

You book it and I am there !!

I honestly had no problem with there only being 16 people there. It was perfect for the space and the number of boards that we had.

If anything, we could have had a 'losers bracket' on the board downstairs (perhaps one leg to advance) to keep everyone occupied. (this is just an after-thought and in no ways a complaint).

Everything ran smoothly and efficiently and was a great day out.

I look forward to the next (few) tournament(s)!!

Ok....so where and when is the next one ??? lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

Let me just check tonight (better ask the manager 1st.....shouldnt be a prob though) but I propose the next Boards.ie Tournie to be in the Farmhouse.........there is 3 boards that can be hung in the lounge and another in the bar if really needed.

Its on the 46A bus route if anyone is coming from town.......and those buses leave every 10/15 mins (well suppose too anyway:rolleyes:).........its also on the dart route (about 20mins walk from monkstown train station).......or you can hop on a bus from dun laoghaire dart station.

How would Saturday April 26th suit everyone???? Shout if ya can or cant make it.

Also if anyone has any idea's or suggestions............please do tell.

Angryhippie +2, possibly a 3rd, will confirm it.
I'm raging, I've been on boards since October or so, and I've never looked at the darts forum, even though I love it...And I've just missed the big '08 competition.
Definitely down for the next one, and two of the lads I usually battle with :D
