    Hi,

I'm in the market for a new ST at the moment and am kinda torn between getting one of the current models NOW or waiting to get a new facelift ST.

The problem is that no-one can give me a date for delivery for a new ST.
Some are saying that it might be in march/april others reckon that it'll be nearer July/August.

Another query is on re-sale value. would I better off having the new model or the old one when I'm selling on??....

So if anyone in "the know" would be able to give me a good idea of a possible delivery date (I'll want some extras) I would be grateful.

    All thoughts Welcome

    Mik

    Hi Mik

The dealers wont quote you a date as the MK2 there was a 6 month wait list for them - they stopped taking orders for the Mk2 in november so you can expect the waiting list to be building for the facelift.
If you do go for a second hand wait for the facelift to launch and then buy. Also dont forget the RS is out next year so that wont help the MK2 second hand market.

What you should do is wait for the RS details to be announced. The most likely set up for the RS will be the reworked 2.5t from the ST and a slip diff with 280 bhp. If this is the case I would buy a facelift ST and bring it to a dealer and get the upgrade package to 260bhp for around 2k. You could also get the MK2 done also if you wanted

I lost 10k on mine at sell time.

Really for a new ST expect 6 months

    Cheers for that Sneaky.
If it's 6 months i'll prob grab a mk2, a few dealers have them in stock. and i'm not that good at waiting :p Well 2/3 months would be tops

I seen the details for the RS and it looks nice, but was not aware that you could get the upgrade pack - what is included? Just a ECU remap or the new Diff too?

    Cheers

    Mik

It will be an ecu remap, intercooler and exhaust. There are plenty of specialists in the UK for ST upgrades but with the Ford upgrade you can keep the warranty.

Dont let people put you off about it being FWD and that extra bhp and torque - it can well handle it (mate of mine has his at 340bhp).

PM if you are buying one and I will send you a list of things to look out for

I'm sad reading this thread. I miss that car more than any other I've ever owned.

GTI Vs R32 is a similar comparison and the GTI wasn't affected at all.

The market for an RS Focus in Ireland is TINY.

I only ever saw two different MKI RS cars.

Wouldn't let that particular point worry me about resale anyway.

Had 2 ST's and considering the new model also.

Factory build dates starting from Feb (UK stock) - I'd imagine March delivery.
Not sure if any unsold orders - will enquire soon.

If I can get free choice of the colour , will have to be Orange!!

Yeah but the UK always get stock before us here in ROI :(
Most dealers say the new focus ain''t launched till March and that's only the basic model, we will have to wait a while to get the non standard models....

But if you find out any different please let me know

    Mik

Ford have confirmed that the ST will definitely be available before July. That said you're probably looking at about four months if you order now. So don't delay too long if you want one before the VRT and tax changes.

indeed, post July, won't it be 2k p.a. to tax? (for new/imported, that is...)

Time to get on the hi-po wagon before Gormless takes the wheels off......

The VRT will go up though from 30% to 32%. Not too bad I guess..
