Oh, she'll deffo have heard of them.

Think of it like this - Ann Summers is the tacky souped up boy racer car, cheap and with go faster strips.

Marks and Spencers is the sensible Volvo, does the job and is dependable.

Agent Provacateur is the Rolls Royce of lingerie - seriously classy.

So, what does that make La Senza?

Hmmm I'd put them between AS and MS, only because MS is more expensive, but i'd wear la Senza more :D

Yeah I have to say great choice
I recently bought a corset in la senza and I ordered a 36dd and its too tight everywhere except the bust area I mean tight to the point I won't wear it which is **** because my boobs look fantastic in it
    :(
    I'm a 14 and i have a 33" waist last I checked so I am by no means what is considered a big 14

Ok, so back hear again, but I've progressed a lot since we last spoke. So much so, I've been into a shop asking for help!
So what do I want back here?
...can anyone tell me why a man can't get a corset/basque for a lady with a larger bust?!?
They all only go up to a D cup on Agent P. or figleaves, or la senza. Ideally I'd go back to AP, but nothing. They can't be got. Why?
Or is there somewhere else I could look for a bigger busted lady?

    Many thanks again!

Online might be your best bet if you want a corset for a larger bust. Have you given her the other stuff yet???

Not to rain on your parade but I'm a size ten/twelve and I'm always swimming in medium underwear. Small seems to be a ten size. But maybe that's just me.

When in the name of god is 14 a large!

    It goes in inches....

    27-29" - small which is 8-12
    30-31" - medium which is 12-14/16
    32-35" - large which is 16 - 18/20

It's all to do with hip and waist size.
Really think women have a warped idea of size.

I tried to go shopping this week. :(
Size 14 is actually XL now. S is an 8. XS is a 6!
    WTF! When that happen!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,217 ✭✭✭pookie82

While we're on the subject, is it just me or do wimmins in general require a size smaller than their dress size for underwear??? I'm always swimmin in a ten.

Agent Provocateur is expensive, most of their stuff is gorge but some is a bit trashy, its obvious what the slutty stuff is though, with the nipple peepholes etc. Sizes are crazy nowadays. My friend was in brown thomas the other day and tried on a size 12 dress, to her joy it was too big and bounced back to the assistant and asked for a 10. The reply was the assistant didn't think they had any of the bigger sizes left!! Designers and stores have a foul attitude to sizes now

Zulu. Is this still the same lady?

I was in a Tally Weil shop y.day and nabbed the last pair of ten jeans going. All of the other racks contained tons of size six, four and zero. I was like Hah!!! Bein smart with yer teeny weeny sizes and now no one's buying them!!! Clothes shop assistants are generally foul creatures anyway. Other than A-Wear ones who, for some reason, always start up a really nice chat with me.

Anywhere online you can recommend? Figleaves, AP, La Senza have all come back with nothing for me :(
I have of course given her the other stuuf (thanks ladies) and she was delighted with my choice.

I actually always go a size bigger for my underwear -- I'm a size 10 in clothes but that size in underwear always gives me appalling muffin top. I wear 12 or 12-14 knickers just to get a smoother line.

My example of sizes is actually from Tally Wiehl.
So you think a ten in there is actually a Large?

Thats why i have stopped buying bras from penneys. i have both B and C's that are too small and i have no clue of what chest size to get because every bra is completely different there, plus there are v. many horribly trashy slutty ones there..

i firmly believe that IF the government that is currently in at the moment, regulated the clothes industry and said that a size 8 is a small, it is X inches, size 10 is etc etc etc then we would vote them in time and time again because all the women would be so happy that they can finally be sure of their size and we wouldnt have these sorts of problems!

I stopped buying bras in Penneys because the underwire in them squeaked so loudly I was conviced people could hear me coming! :o

You might be on to something there.. if while they're at it they could mandate that trousers cut for women should take into account that most of us have waists that are quite a bit smaller than our hips, I'd be happy as a clam :) (totally off topic there but it can't be just me that finds it really hard to find trousers that aren't massive on my waist when they fit my hips, or totally bet onto my hips when they fit my waist.. I'm not overweight, I'm perfectly fit and healthy, they're called curves dammit )

My waist fits fine, but I'm straight up and down, and I end up with wings in trousers where my hips and behind should be. :(

There is no happy one suits all solution.

Where I work, when S, M and L are used 10-12 is small, 14-16 is medium, 18-20 is large, 20-22 is extra large. 8-10, 12-14 and 16-18 also appear but are not 'named' as such. It depends on what size range the shop uses. Shops that are 6-16 would have to class 14-16 as large if that's the highest they go.

Size difference is annoying. As are differing european sizes, an 8 should be a 36 but is classed as 34 in a lot ot shops.

No my point was that a ten in there seems to be the norm and was selling well - so well that the only pairs left were the teeny weeny sizes that no one was buying. They had them all slashed to mad cheap sale prices but there obviously weren't enough girls of that size around to buy them.

...eeeh, so to answer the question, I take it noone knows where one would buy a bauque for a lady with a 32DD/E chest then?

Bramora on Earlfort Terrace in Dublin specialise in larger cup sizes, if they don't have something in stock they might be able to order it in for you. You could give them a ring - i've always found them very helpful and speedy when ordering stuff in too.

    http://bramora.com/index.php?blink=1

I've never been to this crowd, just off Tara Street in Dublin, http://www.intimate-linger.ie/, but i have heard of people going there for special occasion-y stuff, esp brides. Would be interested in any feedback if you do give them a go.

This crowd in Westbury Mall, off Grafton Street, have been around for ages. http://www.susanhunterlingerie.ie/ Very small shop, and a bit spendy (i've only ever had a quick browse). Their website says they do up to F cups. They might know where to order in from.

Bravissimo (www.bravissimo.com) specialise in lingerie in sizes D+ so you might find something there.

Also Figleaves (http://www.figleaves.com/uk/) have a good selection and have them in larger cup sizes. If you do a search on the site you can limit it to the size you want. I have gotten stuff from them in the past and find them very good.

    Zulu try brastop.com.

Ive ordered off them before and found them good value and quick delivery (they specialise in bigger than a D cup).
Not positive that they do corsets but worth a look.

You mustn't have looked very hard. I was surprised when you said figleaves had nothing as I always use them, so I did a search on figleaves for basques in 32DD & 32E and it came back with 2 pages of options.
