RTFM You did get a manual with your recorder - didn't you :rolleyes:

OK - you might not have the manual... Press and hold the power / standby button on the recorder and hold for 10 secs. This may clear the problem and you should get WELCOME on the display. Otherwise, hold in the HDD button for 10 secs. and this will cause the HDD to be formatted and the word FORMAT will appear on the display. This will cause all your saved recordings to be deleted :eek::eek::eek:

If formatting doesn't clear the problem - then your HDD may be completely knackered - replacement time!
