Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How can I record Sky digital using a Philips DVDR3500H model?

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a Philips dvd/HDD recorder and am looking for a way to record sky digital rather than only being able to record the analogue signal because the quality is awful. I have connected the digibox/recorder/TV correctly as it says in the manual, although every time I try to pause digital TV, it switches back to analogue and pauses that.

Is there any way around this or do I have to go out and get Sky +? Please help it would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I take it you just have a standard sky box , in which case the only digital feed is the one going into the sky box , the only way to record of that sky box is using either the scart or the RF outputs , all of which are analog.

The digital feed is encrypted and cant be recorded on anything other than a sky + box.

Any device thats going to record of a standard sky box needs to be able to control the channel switching ( via a remote sender or whatever ) and also needs storage space to buffer while time shifting , you should be able to do this with your unit , but regardless of what you do you will be recording an analog feed.

If you want real digital quality recording , your going to have to get a sky + box , at least theres no extra sub involved now anyway.

Thats right , theres no monthly subscription for sky + , you still have to buy the box and still have to have an extra line put in , ( so that you can record 2 channels at once or watch one record another ....) but theres no monthly sub any more.
