    hi there,
I just bough a new Hitachi 320gb drive that i will use as a slave drive. I placed the 'jumpers' correct i think, 1st pins nearest the power cable on c: and second set of pins from the left of power cable on new slave drive. And i have the long ide cable with the c: at the very end connector and the new drive in the middle connector.
My BIOS showed the new drive, and in device manager it shows the new drive, but in My Computer and Computer Management/ Disk manager it does not show?

    Anyone any ideas?

Did you format it? Look in disk management

    start> run> diskmgmt.msc> enter

Probably just need to initialise the disk.
