    Hey

Does anyone here know which casinos are best in Dublin for blackjack? I'd be interested to know which rules they use and how many decks also.

    Cheers

You'd probably be better off asking in the poker forum...

Citi bar on Dame St are doing a casino night soon, should be full of fun gamers so money to be made..

Collosus on Montague St. does blackjack. Can't remeber how many decks, 4-6 i think. BJ pays 3/2, dealer hits 16, soft 17.
Also the 79 (i think club), same, but plays surrender

every casino in dublin have black jack

they all use four deck, with a shuffle towards the end of the third (incase your trying to count)
    Black jack 3/2
    you can double on 8? 9,10 , 11
    they stick on 17
    no surrender versus an A
you can bet insurance up to half your initial bet, for even money (generally a bad bet)
some tables allow you to double on ANY first two cards (these tables would be the 3 eurp min bets)
Cant realyy think of anything else - its all pretty standard

There is free drink in Sporting emporium whilst gambling. (just up from keoghs, off anne street)
Cool hand lukes on merrion square
Fitswilliam casino - fitswillaim street - around the corner from CHL
    As mentioned collusus

they are the ones around the city centre. if any more Q just google casino's dublin, and then ring them if needs be

Everything has been covered with one exception.

Blackjack is unbeatable, even if you are playing 100% perfect fair blackjack.

The exception to this is very advanced, 8-10 level card counting

Thanks for all the replies guys, that's pretty much everything I need to know.

One thing though Mellor, I've been reading up quite a lot on the game, and as far as I understood, those high level systems have been matched long ago by K-O and variations of K-O..? I'm I reading outdated material?

    Last time I checked:
    silks : 6 decks, DAS,Early Surrender vs 10, double on any 2 cards,bonus 777.

sporting emporium: 6 decks, DAS, Early Surrender vs 10, double vs 9,10,11,bonus 678, 6 card unbusted wins.

It's pretty easy to beat the house in silks if you know what you're doing.
In sporting emporium you have to pick the right dealer to get good penetration, sometimes it's not even worth playing there.

I'd recommend reading "blackjack attack" by Don S. Calculate your Risk of Ruin based on your bankroll and playing strategy etc.

KO is a good start, easy and effective... KO true count is even better.
Some Blackjack games are beatable, pick the right location and you can make a few quid. :)

KO is just the same as regular counting, its that it is a +/- system, the +1 value on 7 simply skews it away from 0 to keep numbers positive, meant to be quicker to count.

By high level, I was refering to card or group specific, very few people can manage this

In general any proper BJ games will not be beatable in the long term, on its own that is. The house has an edge even if you make the right move everytime. Counting can swing it in your favour.

What do you mean by group/card specific? Like recording how many Aces are out, how many (2,3,4's) are out?
If you get a count up in the twenties you have a huge advantage on the house surely...?

Yes I'm slightly confused here too - Mellor is telling us that only high level systems will work, but I thought that simple systems like KO made most of the high level systems redundant. I mean, as someone else points out, if you've got +20 you're going to be betting more, simple as...

How long do you really think you will last in a small Dublin casino varying your bets on the blackjack table as the count becomes positive? Save your energy by learning how to play poker or something. You are wasting your time in my opinion.

Having said that I used to know a couple of guys who were on one of the MIT based blackjack teams and they made a lot of money. But it's like comparing chalk and cheese.
