Where to find tempeh?

    Evergreen hasn't had it for weeks - they say it's on order but it's not coming in from their supplier. Any other places sell it in Galway, or was that about it?

    I've never had tempeh so I don't know, but you could try specialist Asian food shops. There are Chinese shops on Dominick St (between the Roisin and the Bierhaus) and on Abbeygate St (near the Subway, up some stairs). There's also an African shop on Prospect Hill/Bohermore that has some Asian foodstuffs (right hand side of road as you're heading out of town).

    BTW, they sell tofu in Dunnes now.

    Asian food shops a good call, I'll def check them out.

    Compared to tofu - which is typically quite bland and absorbs the taste of whatever it's cooked with - tempeh is much more pungent. I enjoy it, but it's a bit of an acquired taste.

    Jeepers, I tought it was a typo. What is tempeh?

    Is is a herb?

    It's from soybeans, basically similar to tofu but with sprouted beans. I'm fond of it, I'm probably one of the few ;)
