I just hope that that is not the extent of the speed increase ie 3mb to 4mb!!!

No upgrade in Lifford yet either - also on the list for last weekend. I'm on a 2mb package with UTV and I'm consistently getting much less than 1/2 mb for the last few days :( Pages are taking ages to load and I don't even bother with Utube, as it sputters and stammers far too much for comfort.

No sign of an upgrade here, despite the scheduled weekend switchover.

    RE: bad ping times...

I email BT yesterday..they got back this morning!

Said they were looking into the bad ping times.

They asked me for a few trace routes and stuff.

    Sounds like its Eircom's fault.

    Keep ya posted.

    m.

ps: funny though, I can get ping time of about 70ms on wolfenstien enemy territory. but on call of duty 4, its always 100ms or worse! so i take it , its the location of the servers.

pps: used to ping boards 18ms now its 56ms.
ppps: call of duty4 used to be average 65ms..now its 100ms or worse!

Little problem here with Eircom; I'm on the Home Professional package and should have been upgraded to the 7.6Mb package but my line is synching at only 5120/512 (kbps) - a router reboot doesn't change this.

My line stats are as follows:

    Line State Up
    Modulation DMT
    Data Path Interleave

    Downstream Upstream
Max Allowed Speed (kbps) 5120 512
    SN Margin (dB) 4.50 12.00
    Line Attenuation (dB) 47.00 29.00
    CRC Errors 2 5

Should I be expecting better? Why am I not synching at 7.6Mb/672k?

My ping has also gone to **** (due to interleaving) - has anyone confirmed whether Eircom will lower the interleaving if you ask them? Please note that I don't want to downgrade package, I just want my good ping back!

Any news on what date the Carlow exchange is being upgraded?

This thread would rule if the OP or a mod could update the 1st post

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭Nichololas

Any word on the nutley exchange yet? Sorry if it's been mentioned before, travelling at the moment so I don't get much time to follow developments. IIRC my line was supposed to be upgraded the day I left (30th june, I think) to start travelling, so obviously I'll come back after 2 months and it won't have been done. :pac:

You asked about Carlow a week ago and you know that it is Post September like me in Dundalk. I gave you the reply I got from Eircom about Dundalk (they dont know the date but likely will be sometime this year) and I suggested that you could e mail them for a date for Carlow. Did you do this and what did they say?

Not many answers on here anymore. Everyone wants to ask questions rather than answer them.
Don't know if Clontarf was upgraded but Artane was and it's not a million miles away but that wouldn't mean anything, sorry.

There was nearly a month in the difference between the malahide and portmarnock exchanges being upgraded so that means nothing unfortunately.

my 2meg is now 3meg on the Balbriggan exchange.

On the Portmarnock exchange we went from 3mb to 7.6mb and it was awful, now we have been put back to 3mb (they just did it) and it is still only clocking at 2.1mb and has a ping of 400ms. Angry calls will ensue.

As i said before, are you sure this is not due to the flooding?

No, I've been in touch with them and the issue with the flooding was resolved yesterday morning, they say this is a different problem.

Hi, I got the upgrade on Saturday morning after the Carbury exchange was done but ever since then my connection has been very poor, I'm was on the UTV 2Mb service, I now have 3Mb:

    308509495.png

Here are my line stats, they don't look too bad and when I input them to ADSL site to find out what my line is capable of it tells me 8.1Mb, do these stats look good or bad to you? All advice appreciated.

    Type Interleave Path
    Status SHOWTIME

    Downstream Upstream

    Data rate(Kbps)
    3072Kb 384Kb

    Noise Margin
    23 12

    Output power(dBm)
    13 80

    Attenuation(dB)
    37 18
