just saw that the mullingar exchange has been enabled,
while my pings have doubled to 84ms
my 3mb has not changed at all my stats are:

    sync 3072----384
    sn margin 11.50----14.00
    line attn 54.00----31.50

now from what ive read here my attn is muck and im to far from the exchange to get higher but would my upload spped not go a little higher at all ??
oh and a little rant as my first post on this site all this talk of faster broadband whats the point if the lines aint ever gonna be good enough or are we all supposed to go wireless in the future, 100mb down 100mb up with what there is surley no one in ireland ever gonna see that through there lines unless they rip up there paths and get fiber optics in grrrrrr.

sorry for that rant but any suggestions of how i could get any faster download speed would much appriceaited.

Or got fed up waiting for it and tired of complaining about all the downsides?

Not everyone anyway. Carlow still not upgraded and no solid ETA been given yet.

    Bit of a pita.

    Morning' all
Anybody have a link to where I can find when the "next" round of exchanges will be upgraded ?
Am in the Leixlip area and getting up to 2.7Mb/s but I followed a link on this forum and apparently the line can handle up to 6 Mb/s. Presumably I have to wait for eircom to get the finger out...
    Cheers

Keep an eye on the news section of the eircom.com website as thats where they'll announce the next upgrades.

My line was ear-marked for 'post-September'

Well, that's now, right? Or do they mean some weekend in 2015?
Has anyone ever said when the last upgrades will be completed?

Latest from Eircom on remaining upgrades

Approximately 90% of customers who qualified have received the 2-3 Mb
upgrade and the 3-7.6Mb upgrade. That covers approximately 500 of our
    exchanges.

Unfortunately, Exchange which you're connected to is one of the remaining exchanges earmarked
which has yet to be done.

Most of the speed upgrades were dependent upon an IT upgrade which was
scheduled over three phases. However in the remaining exchanges
including the exchange you're connected to, transmission work is also required to increase the
capacity into the exchange. eircom has a separate transmission upgrade
programme that is based on monitoring traffic volumes in each exchange.
Rather than providing the upgrade and potentially allowing a poor
customer experience due to congestion, the decision was taken to wait to
complete the transmission upgrade before applying the speed upgrades.
The upgrades will be applied to the customers connected to each exchange
as the work in each exchange is completed.

I am still waiting the transmission schedule from our network people,
but as soon as I have that schedule I will let you know when the exchange you're connected to
    is due to be upgraded.

I dont appear to have been upgraded in carlow either

Indeed. They upgraded the exchange so it supports ADSL2+ months ago (May) and we've got 12Meg in the office. But all us bitstream users are all still stuck on 3meg until their NGN network reaches Carlow. God knows when that'll be, normally eircom move at about 1metre a year, so it could be 100 years!

I haven't read much of this thread as I'm a happy NTL customer. The advertised Eircom speed increase is to 12Mb, yes?

I've just had an Eircom guy knock on my door to tell me Eircom is releasing 25Mb broadband & TV service in the autumn. He said they're covering the area changing the phone sockets in the area to install new boxes that can handle the new service.

Anyone know about this? Sorry if it's covered already in the thread but a quick scan didn't show anything.

I'm in the Palmerstown exchange area btw.
    >>>>>>>

    Hello
Is this happy all over Palmerstown Dublin 20 there 10,000 population there?
Eircom To Release 25Meg Broadband & TV

Thats a rip off of BT All in One in the U.K service.
There must be some snag to it draw back or very expensive.

It doesnt look like you could get much more than that speed with those stats, attenuation is quite high

    Hello,

This might sound like a stupid question but how did you get those specialised
DSL readings from your broadband telephone line is their a special website?
    besides www.speedtest.net

When you go to your router page usually accessed by typing 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254 into the address bar in your web browser on the first page it says connection information. That where he got the information.

LastAngerMan Thanks for that info, so people just compare those technical readings on this website for analyst?.

Yes, Joe Soap the Eircom engineer is probably a very nice helpful guy, buy dont forget Eircom has changed hands a few times in the last few years and is now owned by an Australian company who couldn't give a shít about your line.

Eircoms New Owners Are Australian hmmm.
Is it true that people who emigrate to Australia are really made work hard?
in other wards is there a different cultural societal corporate work ethic?

    Hey folks.

If I post some of my stats here, can somebody tell me if its good or bad? :/

I'm on BT 3mb line (awaiting the upgrade of death to 7.6mb)

    Data Rate(Kbps)
    3072 384
    Noise margin (dB)
    11.3 13.0
    Output power (dBm)
    18.4 1.9

    Attenuation (dB)
    57.0 31.5

Everything there is normal and has always been like this, EXCEPT for the attenuation. I'm pretty sure it used to be lower values.

However, despite nothing here really changing, my pings have increased and I've encountered some disconnects etc recently.
I'm getting all the adverse effects of this upgrade that they've stated I'm eligible to receive, post-sept.

I'm no expert but those stats don't look to promising to me. 11.3 noise margin doesn't leave much room for a higher connection speed and the downstream attenuation is high. You must be a few KMs from the exchange.

Is your router plugged directly into the main line into the house or is the line split? I have similar readings to you and I'm about 1.5 Km from the exchange. My line is split into 3 and the router is plugged into one of the split lines. If I plug it directly into the main line my attenuation goes down to around 30 db and I get the full 7.6 mb connection but if its in a split I am getting 4.4mb. Worth checking that if you have the line split.

Yeh the router is working off a split.
Its in my room and this room is completely new.
The main socket would be in the kitchen I believe... If I move the router there I've to get a wireless card for this PC, which I dont really wanna do. The router is powerfull though at N1 but I bet my signal would still suck

I've never had the high pings etc before though. Thats all I want to fix really.

I think I should ring them and tell them to take me off the free upgradable 3mb and put me back to my old 3mb? Would that work?

Also, are you saying that by working off the split line I am destined to have those stats no matter what really? :(

    Thanks for the reply btw
