A few of us are going to a midweek match in Manchester in a couple of weeks.

The ferry gets back into Dublin at about 6am and seeing as we have the day off we were planning to continue drinking in the City Centre, as the early houses don't open until 7:30am I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of what we could do from 6-7:30am.

Would wine bars or casinos still be open or as a last resort do coffee shops open that early :)

    thanks

You could try the boars head on capel street or the white horse near tara street station. Both are terrible kips but near a spar for your durty brekkie roll. Im pretty sure both are open at 6.30.

I used to live above the White Horse. Think it's 7am, but I could be wrong.

    any of these http://www.dublinevents.com/dublin-casinos/

But the 78th club is the probably the handiest and opens 8pm-8am, or the Fitzwilliam.

    gone past that stage...

I think the Early Houses all only open at 7:30, the White Horse used to do a DJ set saturday mornings from 7am but that has finished.

I'm sure a taxi driver will be able to sort us out....

You don't say what day of the week but if it's a weekday you'll get a breakfast here in Mary's Lane from 5am. Be warned though, it's nothing fancy and don't order the large breakfast unless you are very hungry - it's huge.

After that there is an early house nearby at the junction of Little Green Street and Little Britain Street. I can't recall it's name - The Capel or something like that.

Don't count on getting to town at 6am just because your ferry arrives at that time, it's still a good mile into the city centre from the port. Also traffic around the port area at 6am is mental with four ferries arriving within minutes of each other. You'll be surprised how fast the time will fly getting from the Port to town, especially after a few wee hours gargles on the ferries pub!

There was one time the Stena Line ferry I was on docked at 5.40am in Dublin Port, it was actually 6.40am by the time my coach got to O'Connell bridge. It was then a case of a quick McMuffin and a McBlack Coffee to sober up a bit and then onto the White Horse for a Saturday Morning stout brekkie.
