Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    right. where to begin!

got my new monitor from dell today. replacing a crap 17" crt.

    got a 22" dell.
    this one.
    http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ie&l=en&s=dhs&cs=iedhs1&sku=130010

plugged it in and bam.... nothing :(
monitor goes into power save mode.

flicked through the 3 channel options.
    analog
    digital
    hdmi

    nothing.

tried analog and digital connection. but no display at all.
finally after plugging it in and out of the pc a few times, it finally displayed!

horray! so i installed the drivers that came with the monitor for the webcam thats built in.
restarted after installing the new hardware.

    bam.. :(
    no display again.
so i hooked it up to my other computer.
still nothing. when i changed the connections around, it displayed!

    horray again i said.
so i checked it all out, and set my resoloution.
didnt go 2 mins before i said id restart again and see if it shows.

    bam :( now im angry.

to this moment, no display. it keeps going into stand-by mode.
tried every connection possible but no joy. tried loads of different cables.
tried loads of adapter's, and tried both ports on the 8800gt but nothing.

am i doing something wrong? ive got the latest drivers installed for the gpu.

am feeling annoyed as im working tomorrow and wanna play some games on this before i hit the bed.

    someone help?

Dunno if this is common or a quirk of my machine but I have to have the power supply switch set to on before connecting my monitor cable to the PC - otherwise the screen receives no signal when the PC is turned on.

I see this all the time with on board vid cards on Dells. Sometimes the signal sent oout to turn on the monitor isn't strong enough during normal operation. nearly always takes a restart.

Though this doesn't sound like RMC's problem cause I've never heard of that happening on an external card let alone a 8800GT.

I have an (ultra rare :D) MSI-manufactured ATI Radeon 9600TX. So I'm not relying on on-board graphics... unless it's not working.

called dell. sending it back to them on monday.

they think its a faulty power converter in the monitor.
