    Hello all, a friend of mine needs a PCI express SATA card, as may ports as possible. Can anyone recommend a good one to look out for?

    Also he wants an SSD, I have been looking for them all over the web but thay are still pretty hard to find and the choice of sites to buy from is limited.

    I have come across futurestorage.co.uk, has anyone used these guys?

    I was going to suggest Number 9 on this page to him
    http://www.futurestorage.co.uk/selproducts.asp?showcat=YES&Category=SSD

    Any views on this?

    Thanks for any help you can give.

    there are some issues with the new Mac Os and and also heard there were limitations on the Intel chipsets.
    These may have been resolved now but do your homework before taking the plunge.;)

    Cheers, it will be hosting Vista.

    I have just been reading about the Intel chipset issue, limiting the speed to 80Mb/s.

    Will have to do a bit more research.

    The Motherboard is a Asus P5W DH Deluxe with the following SATA ports
    Intel ICH7R SouthBridge:

    * 1 x UltraDMA 100/66/33
    * 3 x Serial ATA 3.0Gb/s with Intel Matrix Storage Technology with RAID 0, 1, 5 support

    Jmicron JMB363 controller

    * 1 x UltraDMA 133/100/66
    * 1 x External Serial ATA 3.0Gb/s (ASUS SATA-on-the-Go) and 1 x Serial ATA 3.0Gb/s with RAID 0, 1, JBOD support

    Silicon Image 4723 Hardware RAID controller (ASUS EZ-Backup)

    * 2 x Serial ATA 3.0Gb/s with RAID 0, 1 support
    * Support RAID 10 cross Intel ICH7R and Silicon Image 4723 controller

    Does anyone know which port I should use?

    you think they would make it easy on you to decide!

    the intel controller ich7r prob has better support for Raid.

    havenet seen "Chosen" around for a while but he has SSD's and has been playing around with them for a while.
