I second this , Cyber City Oedo 808 is one of the best anime mini series around.

If ye like this try AD police. Also another Classic is Dominion Tank Police.

For something less old school. Samurai Champloo is great, Also Bleach and if you can slog through the already massive amount of episodes I recommend Naruto as it gets very very dark when you get to the current series when he is a young adult.

You cant go wrong with Ghost in the Shell Stand alone complex (G.I.T.S.S.A.C for short) Some great story driven action and drama there

These 4 are fantastic - just started Hajime no Ippo (also known as Fighting Spirit), it's very good!

The only thing I can think of right off the top of my head is Kodocha (Kodomo no Omocha). It's about 11-year old Sana Kurata as she learn about life and love and school while juggling her life as a child star.

    Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

    I'd remove the link.

You clearly intended to link to

    But mistyped somehow.

You do know that the creators of South Park are such Japanophiles that they wrote an entire song in Japanese, right? Most of the people here wouldn't go that far... ;)

Ok. I'm looking for something light-hearted, ideally mecha of some kind, have recently finished "Heroic Age", and "Gurren Lagann", (both of which were fantastic!). Am in the middle of Code Geass/With Hunter Robin/Death Note, but while in their own right they're all fantastic series I need something a little lighter at the minute, (way closer to the Gurren Lagann style of things).

    Any thoughts?

Since they're Nasuverse & getting pretty good reviews, try out the (5 so far) Kara no Kyoukai movies.

Guardian of the Sacred Spirit (Seirei no Moribito) is an amazing anime with good fight scenes, though there's more story than fighting but from your list i think you'll enjoy it :)
